Description

This session showcases the power of food systems transformation towards nature-positive agriculture, ranching and food generation to address biodiversity loss, climate change, and challenges in conventional food production and generation systems. Through on-the-ground examples, the audience will learn firsthand about the potential and importance of nature-positive food production and generation systems for biodiversity conservation, climate mitigation and adaptation, and land and water systems resilience as the necessary conditions for food security, long-term productivity, and sustainable livelihoods. Participants will be part of the discussion about the challenges, potential and the strategies the strategies needed to scale nature positive food systems, sharing perspectives from large and small producers, including Indigenous Peoples. We will discuss the critical role of coordination and collaboration among governments, intergovernmental organizations, environmental NGOs, academics, and the private sector actors in creating the enabling conditions for ranchers, farmers and Indigenous Peoples to protect and restore biodiversity within food production and generation schemes.
