Masaru joined Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Asset Management in 1997. He worked for over 20 years as an analyst and a portfolio manager in Global Equity strategy, covering various sectors, in North America, Europe and Japan. He moved to the Stewardship Development Team as a Senior Stewardship Officer in charge of company engagement in 2019. He relocated to New York office in 2019 to develop ESG Services in Americas, focusing on stewardship activity with SMTAM portfolio companies in Americas. He expanded into policy engagement activities through participation in investor initiatives on nature and climate.
