Juan Carlos Jintiach is a Shuar Indigenous leader from the Ecuadorian Amazon with over 30 years of advocacy in Indigenous rights, land stewardship, and climate justice. He serves as Executive Secretary of the Global Alliance of Territorial Communities (GATC) and Technical Advisor to the Coordinator of Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon Basin (COICA), representing Indigenous networks from 24 countries at major international forums, including COP16 and UN climate conferences. His leadership is recognized globally—he was shortlisted for the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize alongside Victoria Tauli-Corpuz for his work defending ancestral lands and Indigenous science.
