Her career focus is making buildings behave more like plants, and industries more like forests through design and innovation. Since her first Cross Laminated Timber project in 2013, Emily has a track record of breaking barriers for mass timber and other low-carbon construction technologies. She is active in researching, lecturing and writing on mass timber topics, including annually writing and updating the four construction industry chapters and the carbon chapter of the International Mass Timber Report. Emily owns and runs her consulting company, Field Edge, and her product innovation company, Single Widget, out of Portland, Oregon. She received her degree in Architecture from Cornell University in 2003.
