Daniel Zarin is founding Executive Director for Forests and Climate Change at the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) where he leads a global team working on innovative solutions to help ensure that Earth’s remaining forests and peatlands can deliver climate change mitigation and adaptation benefits at the scale we need. Previously (2010-2021), Dan served as founding Director of Programs of the Climate and Land Use Alliance (CLUA), a philanthropic collaborative, and as senior advisor to the David & Lucile Packard Foundation (2005-2009). Earlier in his career Dan was a professor, first at the University of New Hampshire (1995-2000), and then at the University of Florida (2000-2010). He has written 60+ articles on forests and climate change.
