Joel Wengamulay joined ICCN in 2005 as Assistant to the Board Chairman after three years in the mining sector. He soon moved to Virunga National Park, where he led a major restructuring effort, including the development of the General Management Plan and the establishment of management standards. He later co-led the planning of the Virunga Alliance strategy, focusing on sustainable energy, tourism, and community development. After five years, he joined the African Development Bank, returning to ICCN to oversee planning and stakeholder engagement. He now serves as Director of International Cooperation. Wengamulay holds a Bachelor’s in Law and an MBA from Hult International Business School.
