This interactive workshop at the CGIAR Pavilion in the UNCCD COP17 Blue Zone will bring together policymakers, government representatives, international organizations, and development partners to explore practical pathways for strengthening coherence across the land, biodiversity, and climate conventions. Through the lens of agrifood systems transformation, participants will examine how Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs), and Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) targets can be advanced through more integrated approaches, drawing on country experiences and best practices.
As part of a broader dialogue series taking place throughout the COP year, the session will explore how greater alignment across global land, biodiversity, and climate agendas can accelerate progress toward shared goals and strengthen implementation on the ground. Participants will exchange experiences, identify practical solutions, and discuss approaches that support climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, land restoration, food security, and sustainable livelihoods.
Designed as a highly participatory workshop, the session will combine expert perspectives with facilitated breakout discussions, providing opportunities for direct engagement on key challenges and opportunities for cross-convention collaboration. Key messages and recommendations from the workshop will be synthesized into an outcome paper to inform discussions at upcoming biodiversity and climate COPs.
